I keep thinking about planting some rhubarb. And brussel sprout. Love those things!

I've been kicking it around too. Going to make an indoor garden come spring, being as it's all sand at my place. Anyhow, kind of amused at the direction this thread went ha!

I like pie. Apple. But Strawberry rhubarb is my favorite.

I wonder how many people ever eat anything with rhubarb. Mmmmmm strawberry and rhubarb..
Used to be a guy up here that made wines and liqueurs from different stuff and he had a rhubarb wine that was simply amazingly yummy...

Born and raised in northern MN. Every potluck had rhubarb something or other on the table. This little old lady used to make the BEST rhubarb cake brownie things. I remember being a little kid and literally eating my self sick of them.

Really?
I thought it was a Southern thing. (I grew up all round the South)

Pies (Homer Simpsom voice on] Hmmmmm, pies. must consume pies (drool) [/Homer simpson voice off]

Oh yeah most definitely. I've got a couple memories banked too from when I was "knee high to a grasshopper," in the duck blind with my dad, chowing down rhubarb jam slathered croissants. Shit now I'm kind of sad the seasons over lol. Craving some rhubarb now.....

Morison and his handjob side kick Toby kicking it together again....THE two biggest toolboxes on the forum.

Don't you two have better things to do with your lives?

I'm sorry, but that was a tad ambiguous. I am giving or receiving said "hand-job"?

Tom,
Just 'cause John got pissed off at what I wrote here doesn't mean it either is - or was intend to be - malicious.
If you take the time to actually read the first post you'll see It was simply a note to express appreciation and thanks for the things John does well and to show him that the world isn't out to get him. He calls this a 'one line throw away comment,' but he's been making several of them along the same lines.

How you can take exception to me posting what I did and not seem to have any issue with John's reaction baffles me. It baffles me almost as much as how anyone can see what I wrote as being anything but complimentary and supportive.

Dude, you need to realize that there are many kinds of troll. Some are under the bridge, making grumbling noises; others are on the bridge, grumbling about the grumbling noises coming up from under the bridge. And then there are the peanut-gallery trolls, standing on the bank, acting aloof, while grumbling about all of the grumbling that is coming from over near the bridge.

These varieties of troll are each a bit different, but have one thing in common: you can't reason with any of them about their grumbling. Taking their grumbling seriously is a terrible mistake.

I'm not sure how I missed this thread on Pies!!!

This is a rally forum with men talking about pies. It really doesn't get much better! I just want to say first I really appreciate being able to eavsedrop on guy talk, I find it adorably cute most every time I visit here for a quick smile smiling smiley

OK... so I considered whether or not to weigh in on this thread. I'm probably the most innovative pie-maker on the forum, and I don't want to come off wrong/cocky.. that's not me. winking smiley I've baked pies not lots maybe 13 or so... I go for quality not quantity here, 1 strawberry rubarb over the summer , one completely experimental coconut cream pie (3-way by the way) and a bunch of little pot pies most recently. I have never won a pie contest but all who have eaten my pie absolutely love it!

Pies can be time consuming but let me tell you I found the greatest challenge this year with canning. Canning pickles in particular is HARD!

I'm not sure if any of you guys are into canning. I'll be completely honest on this one I didn't spend much time hand picking the cucumbers. I knew I could get small, medium or large. Being new at this I decided to go for the small ones. I ended up Canning all day long!

I've attached a couple of pictures to share just reliving that wonderful weekend in summer. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did. smiling smiley

Here's to a Happy New Year to all who have made me smile!

I've canned homemade grape juice concentrate, to later be made in to juice in non grape bearing months.

The concentrate also happens to work as a decent mash. just sayin
