I'm sorry your apparently too incompetent to use google. It might be the 4th or 5th hit on the first page using the key words "tire wrap"
And as Grant already explained it, I dont see why any further explaination would be necessary, as he seemed to have gotten his explaination correct. So, all that remained, was where it came from. YOU even asked this, in an indirect way. Why are you troubled? Welcome to the cult of JVL drink the koolaid or be banned. |

Or are you too incompetent to fucking understand that (Tim I gibve you a hint, I can joke with my peers, but I don't like what seems like a real smart alec edge you get. Keep that for YOUR peers, OK > > And as Grant already explained it, I dont see why > any further explaination would be necessary, as he > seemed to have gotten his explaination correct. > So, all that remained, was where it came from. How the fuck do I know what the explanation in the Google results, and if they made any sense compared with whatever the fuck Grant was asking, cause I can't see what you saw which you were too LAZY to hit Ctrl C or was that too incompetent? > > YOU even asked this, in an indirect way. > > Why are you troubled? Fucking waste of time writing in response to somebody else being ased for a clarification of a vague description "I loooked it up, ist more or less what he said" See? What he said was unclear, you "confirming" its "what he said" is no additional info. Kids! Fawk! Learn to convey information. > > Feisty Peacock? Thanks for the great info. Beeing a NooB I never realized that rally tires were either symmetrical or Left/Right side specific.
I'm looking at the tires offered here.... http://www.subesports.com/products/cat/Tires/brand/Michelin+Rally The Michelin ZE series you must specify Left or Right hand side. (weight 5kg more than the symetrical ones) Are the Compound numbers based on the Durometer scale? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shore_durometer My gut instinct says Yes. The 14/62's have 4.5 inch tall side walls and 5.5 inches of tread width. They're smallish tires. Michelin Gravel Tires Recommendations 15" 14/62 L82 $165 Small size - 120-200 HP 16/65 ZE80 $180 Open Tread - 200-260 HP 16/65 ZE70 $195 Open Tread - 200-260 HP - Soft 17/65 ZA81 $200 WRC size - 250-400 HP 17/65 Z72 $190 WRC size - 250-400 HP - Soft Compounds & Construction Compounds 4, 80, 81, 82 Medium compound - approx. 40-75 degrees 70,72 Soft compound 92 Hard compound - only for maximum longevity Construction M Offset pattern - good older all round pattern L Straight edged - old but useful pattern Z WRC pattern - closed tread blocks ZA Similar to above, but more open tread ZE Even more open, good for sand + mud or medium horsepower cars Here's a picture of Michelin tread patterns. Symmetrical across the top. Asymmetrical across the bottom. Disclaimer: Everything I'm posting here is info I gathered from the Internet. I do not claim to know fuck-all about Rally tires just trying to learn and sharing what I came across. So feel free to blast away if I got something wrong. Michael LeCompte Edited 1 time(s). Info on Pirelli's
http://www.pirellityre.com/web/motorsport/tyres/tyre_catalog/rally/default.page Info on Hankook's http://www.hankooktireusa.com/product/tire_race_list.asp?id=racing&t_img=race3&sub_t=rally Info on Silverstone's http://www.taborrallyteam.com/silverstone.html Info on BF Goodrich's I've attached a PDF of all the info I could get on BF Goodrich's G-force Rally Line. Lots of great info in here but no tread pictures. I don't know for sure but it seems as if BF Goodrich is a new kid on the block but a big player in Rally Tires now-a-days. WRC and IRC are using them. "BF Goodrich G-Force Rally tires pick up where Michelin branded rally tires left off in 2006." Not positive what that means but I read it in a description of BF Goodrich tires. Michael LeCompte |

I'm a died in the wool Michelin/BFG guy. Out East, Buffum's been selling them forever and they work. Sube has been selling them forever in CA, too. The other brands, sources and pricing come and go. And, being left with 3 of something becomes a PITA. Like those $59 close-out Falkens, for instance. Or the Hankooks, that started out cheap, then got expensive, and they keep changing the compounds, 'cause all the early stuff was way to hard..
I'll run whatever i can get cheap, but come back to the Michelins, when I need a good product and I an forced to pay out real cash. Ted Mendham www.rensport.net |

I'll search hard for decent used Michelin or "Beeeeg Fuckin Gomme" tires before even thinking about any of them made in a country with zero rally experience tires. Hey Ted, you buying the biggest gawd dam thing available? You know like 17/65 x 15s? I say thay cause I really do think that's too fat for us lowly amatooooors. And if you ran the more reasonable tire like the 16 wide ones then you coul;d sell the used ones to 2wd guys. Come on Ted, think about how long Andrew has helped you out, have some consideration and get the right size. Ted gets whatever falls out of the back of the Vt. Sportscar dumpster! Although they haven't had any of the narrow size in a long time.
He's mounting up stuff that I'm writing "NFG" on at service! "What's all these wires coming out of the sidewall?" "They're FINE, put them on Lise's side!" Like I'm going to get a car built in the next decade...child #2 is coming in late October or early November! As soon as the four feet of snow melt around my "rally shell" with the disaster cage, it's coming out, my other spare shell's coming out, and I'm going to decide if I do a slow project, maybe build a rally-x wanker mobile, try to sell, smoosh one, smoosh both, or put the JVAB/FoMoSpo 41mm boingers I have on my black street car and try to finish the thing off doing a Cannonball Run or a track day at Nude Hamster Motor Speedway or Gravel Pit Park. Unless I hit the lottery, then I'm blowing it all on top-drawer Subabishis! Andrew Steere Lyndeborough, NH KB1PJY |

John,
16/65-15" ZE series is what I run. I would need to run spacers to use wider stuff. I don't test, so I don't know which REALLY is better for me, but most folks seem to run the narrower ones on P4/PGT cars. They used to be refered to as "group-N spec" and the 17s used to refered to as group-A spec. I know my car is less powerful than a Group-N car. I could probably run the even narrower non-directional ones and not notice the difference. I would put spacers on and run the wide ones if they were free ;-) Andrew knows where to get Michelin cast-offs and I have plenty. But, I think he is a little bit busy making whoopy at the "Return to Zion Ranch, North". Ted Ted Mendham www.rensport.net |
