fuel cell in the hatch area

looking the groupe a cars of yester years i see the cell in mounted over the rear axle between the wheel wells

is this legal now or does the cell need to a fire wall between it and the crew?

If it is inside, it needs to be in an enclosure, or seperated by a firewall.

Ha! Our shop owns that car. The back seat currently looks like this:

The fuel cell layout you have pictured is now illegal. It's a whole lot easier to move the cell behind the bulkhead and seal the trunk area from the passenger area.

And another gratituous shot of the car...

Here's my buddy's hatch with a cell and a firewall. The top panel fits up against the inside of the hatch when it's closed.

I could have sworn we had a "legal fuel cell" thread with pics of hatchback cells in it, but search turned up nothing.

Plans for the SN95 are to throw a spare engine and trans in it and get people interested in dirt sports by having it available for rallycross.

There was this thread i commented on awhile back because the fuel cell was just hanging out in the back, but they covered the top so nothing could be exposed to the cab, but the pics are gone now, whomp whomp.

He still may have the pics around though.

i'm sure something will work out in time.
