if i don't like the mustang i will build a ranger or something and sell the mustang to road racer
or just go learn to fly (probably cheaper any way)

I like the idea of the ranger. I like what the v8 rally ranger guy from out east is doing with his. It doesn't get much more simple than his approach to all this rally stuff.

Ok honestly, that's even more true. Being able to buy all your parts off of a shelf, what's that like? smiling smiley

Here's one solution to gain some space if running the exhaust over the axle. It's just a bend that is cut down the center with a section of flat bar welded in.
If your up to the task it's not too hard. The asking price for the bends it a bit extreme. But hey, oval tubing is becoming cheaper and easier to find!

battery placement is the big question this day

1) i'm thinking of putting the battery as far back as possible, behind the rear axle
2) or put the battery where the back seat was, fairly low and just in front of the axle

Weight distribution is not going to win a rally, at least not in the US. I would put it somewhere that it is easy to get to, easy to jump, and safe. Is the stock location not use able? The costs of moving the battery into the passenger compartment are possibly greater than just buying a light weight small form factor battery and connecting it to the factory cables.

stock location is not an option
i have most every thing it will take to relocate the battery
i have installed them in the rear seat area with good result in the past
and the very rear is already very tight with tools, tyres, ect

Accessible and well mounted. The red civic roll I posted the optima battery was never found. Codriver saw it fly out where the sunroof panel had been.

Cute.
Baw-jaw testes...odd they din't say it passed...
Whatever. I was going to suggest this but then i realised my error.

don't bother looking at anything from AA Mfg---
like this battery box:

AA-111-A 11" BATTERY BOX PREWELED
$28.60

Buy 10 for $22.95 each

AA-111-KC 11" BOLT ON BATTERY BOX KIT
$30.28

AA-111-B 9" BATTERY BOX PREWELDED
$26.40

Buy 10 for $21.65 each

AAA-111-KA 11" BATTERY BOX KIT WITH 3/8" BOLTS
$24.20

Buy 10 for $19.84 each

AA-111-KB 9" BATTERY BOX KIT WITH 3/8" BOLTS
$23.10

Remember more cost is ALWAYS better no matter what...always look for the most expensibve thing, it means its "Quality"..
It's only money..
SPEND SPEND SPEND, it's your right. It's your duty!
BOBODY can tell you how to spend, but by god spending is the answer.

And don't ever think what a poor use of the word "quality" is when used like that.
