meh, my Xratty nuked a snail

My XRatty street car decided to nuke its turbo. Stock XR snail, but with a 40bob v-band 3" rear flange (poor man's Cozzie flange, and the Price was Right!).

I need something that is cheap, not riddled with snapped off fasteners, is cheap, and makes eleventy billion efft lebs or toques!

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

You need a turbo or you need a new car?
I might have a spare T3 around, though finding it and shipping to you might be the difficult part.

What I need to do is get a fresh CHRA to match a stock XR cold side and a Cozzie hot side. Then get the Cozzie hot side from JV if he has any.

Or something like that. I AM sick of dealing with frozen and/or snapped off fasteners in 25-30 year-old turbos.

I have several spares in pieces that may or may not be Ok (very cheap or free). I also have recently rebuilt stock turbo sitting on the car that is due to be replaced with the cossie turbo setup as soon as I stop being lazy and distracted.

Let me know if anything sounds interesting (cossie turbo not for sale).

I am going to be at BRS in a few weeks and could bring parts with me.

Man I wish I had a thing without 3 out of 5 bolts broken off flush for the turn down piece, but alas, the one on the blue car is 3 dead outta 5, a "loaner" unit came back with 3 outta 5 broken off, and the only other has 1 bolt--evidently made of Kryptonite/dimond alloy--which I ruined 3 new TiN coated drill bits and one 1/4" end mill--and managed to take off less than 2mm

Grrrrrr fawkin Garrett 5 bolt housings

I have the eggzact same problem, all my hot sides have multiple snapped bolts. Probably just going to park the thing and get something shiny for it over the winter. Or do the ghetto thing and slap a Holset on it.

I think I actually PAID a machine shop to get all my snapped shit out. I only use stainless socket head caps now and one time use.

While pouring through boxes looking for ski boots, I found a good used center section that I think was the original one on the black car. I think I may just soak the nuked hot side in some solvent and see if I can get it apart. Maybe I'll get lucky (hahahahhaahaha!).

Pen oil and a good propane torch always seemed to work for me, Gotta say when they bust lose sounds like a bolt snapping always scares me. on really bad exhaust bolts preheat and oil once a day for a week then let rip. If they don't come out in one piece they were never gonna : (

Ask, listen-read, research, learn, weigh, execute, then let er rip

Further investigation found the center section cast iron had a nite taken out of it by Cookie Monster. Back to the drawing board.

Update is that I need to come up with $150 to buy the recently rebuilt one a fellow Lemons racer is selling (since he decided a 4.6 V8 is a better engine for Lemons racing an XR4Ti……..okaaaaay).

But I'm also juggling cleaning a stall in a barn in the next town over for putting the street XR4 away for salt season (and the Lemons car if there's enough space), replacing four blown struts in my Legacy, a completely fused LR wheel bearing/hub/axle assembly (last of the fresh parts scheduled to arrive today), making my quiver of used up ski equipment make it one more season, getting ahead on firewood, and all the other stuff that comes with kids and home ownership.

Which means I should get the hell off the computer.

The "real" XR4i's in europe came with the 2.8 V6, including the XR4x4.

Yes, it's a Ranger.
Xr4Ti, it is rwd and was made in Germany.
