Sure, I'll be happy to ban anyone else that refuses to post their real name.

You don't get to act like a big hero, while hiding behind your keyboard.

The price of anarchy is identification.

Says the administrator without a real name posted...

John - I notice that your list of founding rallyist is quite devoid of currently competing rallyists. Derek may be only one listed that ever made it to a rally. Biggest mistake I made in rallying was listening to too much of your advice.

Scott Kun was just out in some RX7, last year, and besides Grant, how many events have you driven? 3? You bring up currently competing, are you?
And am i responsible for people making decisions on getting married, buying houses, changing jobs, building garages and deciding not to compete?

As for mistakes from my advice, others have done exactly the same cars with same parts and they seem as happy as pigs in the mud... maybe you are the variable?
Sean Medcroft built one and was very happy, and the new owner is also very happy with both the Xratty and the Volvo he just got...I' didn't tell you to buy cossie body kits and expensive remote pedal box and all the dough on the Volvo 16v head... Better scold whoever talked you into that.
Don't know what to tell you.

But that's moot, you're now they expert.

Your advice is good for most people when taken in small snippets. Its following too much that can get one in trouble.

Skye,

I get that it's "your sand box" but you need to change your sig to "John's bitch".

The people with success that follow your koolaid are usually ones with good support groups and high levels of skill already. I did one stage rally and three hill climbs with the Merkur. I tore into it because every time I touched a wire or electrical plug it broke. Side effect of a 4000 year old and extremely hot environment. Myself, I'm not going to spend $2-3k and a 1000 mile tow with that kind of potential failure lurking. And I wanted to do liquid nitrogen treatment and seam welding.

I am not an expert. But we are working on cages #12, 13, and 14 right now. That's 14 people just starting to get involved that I try to guide into a path that leads them successfully driving a first event as quickly as possible. I am going to 100AW to support three customers (at no expense to them) all of whom were on stage within 12 months. How many of your "guided" builds accomplish that? Zero? And just to let you know, two of them are running on cheap suspension because they did NOT want to deal with JVAB. A recurring sentiment everywhere.

john, there's nothing left to discuss. send the money for the stuff you sold knowingly to Al and I will forget about the incredibly negative conversations we've had. seriously, you are no fun to talk to over the phone and I do not share any interest in talking crap about other members of this community. it's been fuxkin years, and you have my address. send me the money and we can move on. it's not that hard. you also have my email address too. I. just. want. what's. mine.

thank you,
Brian

Glad to hear you hope to get back. I've had a few friends now take hiatuses and they almost always have more fun the second time around. Not to mention the car is better prepped and cheaper since we don't make the same mistakes twice. Well, unless you count building another Subaru as a mistake. smiling smiley

Hey i Resemble that comment ! smiling smiley

Is the Talon still for sale?

I have a few friends in St. Louis looking for already-built rally cars, to get their feet wet in the sport.
