Actually these are silly...And ridiculously expensive because they are done in an inappropriate way....CNC mill time is expensive.... Whoever this anonymous person is who shamelessly is trying to steal my idea doesn't understand machining..and so a simple part is made such that he needs to charge more than double what the originals cost... This part is mainly a lathe job...and the CNC mill is only needed for the 3 bolt holes drill and tap operation...which you should note costs about $30 for the 3 bolt circles to be drilled and tapped---if done at the same time 9that's why I supply these with both normal US M8 holes and 2WD Cosworth M10 bolt holes--its insignificant additional cost for the 3 set of holes..... In short he's getting screwed by the machine shop or he's really greedy... The reason a whole lot of really nice parts haven't or weren't made in the past is just this exact type of problems we've seen here: a certain number of people want -----or say they want---something and then somebody---not machinists, talk to somebody and think they can do the part better/cheaper/sooner and that hurts the numbers needed to get a decent production run done.. It went that way for the "606" versions of the in-situ adjustable front lower control arms in aluminum...not hard to do but it needed a minimum run so I don't loose my shirt...And in no time flat somebody-----not a machinist, not a metal fabricator guy---says "Oh I could weld up some steel ones for almost nothing..its EASY......Too bad one guys arms failed in like 5 minutes, or another guys bent, or were flat seriously dangerous design... Everybody is a genius and everybopdy can do things better......but its a shame they don't understand manufacturing process... I wonder if the guy will actually post his full name, real city and state and maybe even try and discuss helping with making the kits rather than stealing my idea...I sure as hell wouldn't consider giving money to somebody 100% unknown... This is for the easy parts:. The hard parts are the adapter mounting brackets to the subframe and the rear diff mount. Getting the angles right is the tricky part. |
