Methanol and 20K could probably get you there. It won't last long though.

I guess it doesn't matter what it is John.

First it was keyboard hype. I prove it wrong. Now it's too much money.

The purpose was to show the potential of the engine. That it. And that's all. So the 2rz will make somewhere between 145 and 320 horse NA.

I'm surprised you are as old as you are and no one's murdered you for being such a

Could be that I only annoy guys talking puffed up bullshit.
Guys who need to talk way pointless crazy ass stuff that nobody here or anybody I know in this sport is actually doing.

My address is public and you're just a short drive away if you really feel the need to come up to Seattle and murder me, but you should probably call first to make sure I'm home.
Would you like directions?

I could show where where you could get a smaller displacement four cylinder for about half that price that's rated at 300 hp and is brand new and hasn't already done four laps. On a strung out, American built NA motor, four laps is close to the life span. I race regularily with some of the more expensive and high strung NA motors in the nation and the amount of problems those guys have is astounding. That's why they seem to prefer shorter events. Nothing like waking up at 6 am in your tent to some guy's 900 hp big block V8 'warming up' for a race that starts at 9.

That's ok, I don't need directions. Nor would I ever kill you man. I'm just surprised no one else has along your long road of life.

So yeah...
I'm not talking about buying a 10 thousand dollar motor.
$1500 will get you a complete low milage dropout from a 02-04 Tacoma. We're talking Everything. (motor/trans/driveshaft) with all the computers and harness, accessories, and exhaust manifold ready to run. You'll need the driveshaft cut down to weld on which ever yoke you'll need for whichever rear end you want to run. Pick your poison, that Dyna 30 axle deal with the Jeep Diff that Tim Taylor's working on looks neat. in every junkyard across America. This setup has awesome potential to be reliable, durable, and robust in general. It's even SMOG legal in California since it comes from vehicles from this side of the planet.

And it Fits in the bay of corolla or starlet too. With no need for oil pan modification.

The w59 5 speed Tranny that the tacoma uses is the same as MK3 supra except it has lower 1st and 2nd and 5th gears. It's a pretty tough transmission. The gear ratios are lookin' pretty dang good. If they're not...show me what I'm missing. Is 1st too low or two far apart from 2nd gear?
Tacoma W59 Supra W58

* First Gear: 3.954:1 *First Gear: 3.285:1
* Second Gear: 2.141:1 *Second Gear: 1.894:1
* Third Gear: 1.275:1 *Third Gear: 1.275:1
* Fourth Gear: 1.00:1 *Fourth Gear: 1.00:1
* Fifth Gear: 0.85:1 *Fifth Gear: 0.783:1

The firewall needs to be shaped with a hammer a bit to clear the firewall and the tranny tunnel. Need to fab motor mounts. Shifter seems like it would be in a good location.

We know it makes decent power and torque in stock form. For $1500 more you can do up the head with SS valves, springs and all the rest, two new camshafts and ARP headstuds and you're making about 200 horse. And you can install the parts yourself. Pulling the head off one of these motors is a breeze. Cams hit the buckets on top the valves.. no followers or rockers B.S. Cams have gears and it's got a timing chain not a belt.

In addition the motor has forged rods from the factory and it's boost friendly.

For the record, I wasn't suggesting that anyone buy a 10K dollar engine! The purpose was to show the 2rz's potential. You said torque rules. 2.4 liters baby.

I'm assuming you're talking about those badass race trucks? What motors are those guys running? How much less than 2.4 Liters?
It's got me curious as to the smallest 4cyl displacement and still make 300 horsepower. Since it all depends on how high you can rev at some point the rotating mass of larger displacement is going to work against you. I wish I had a better "feel" for that balance at the ultimate limit. I would have to guess that it would have to at least be 2.0L to make 300hp.

I have to admit I'm a converting to rally from drag racing. I'm a drag racing guy at heart, it's sad and embarrassing I know. Bracket racing even. But it's what I grew up around and a few of my buddies made it pretty big into the import drag scene. So it was always cool hanging out with them. One guy in particular was big into the NA 4cyls. Scott made 310hp @ the WHEELS with his MOPAR 2.4L four or five years ago when he drove his neon in the NHRA Sport Compact series.

From what I recall these motors below are in the 300 club. There's probably a ton more exotic ones but I mostly know American and Jap stuff.

Honda K24, H23A
Toyota 2.4
Ford 2.3
Mopar 2.4
Pontiac 2.5 SD4
Olds Quad 4 2.3

Anyway it's bedtime. Urr...Sorry about hijacking your thread. You're supposed to be a selling a motor here and I'm blabbing in your thread. In my defense, this is anarchy after all and I had something to say, so I said it. goodnight

s2000 class (not the honda!) cars make about 280 with their na 2 liter, and they're limited to only 8300 rpm.

But again, not something attainable by mortals, so why bother wasting time over it?

When they were new and got the contract my memory says they made 212-220 bhp.

But like everything else the number just keep growing.

I wonder when those old motors made back then will reach 300?
