Demon Rally Rabbit For Sale
May 28, 2008 04:23PM
The bunny is for sale in it's mangled state:

Class winning (Group 2) and regionally competitive OVERALL car. Fully legal log-booked vehicle under Rally-America. Current Group 2 Brooklyn Tavern Stage Record holding car

In it's current condition the car will need a new rear section including the rear quarters; it also needs doors, front fenders and a new front radiator support. The car looks and tracks straight suspension wise. The cage is fine and did it's job well. I will supply doors, front fenders, hood and hatch.

The shell is fully seam welded, has reinforced front shock towers, and a cascade autosport integrated subframe and skid plate along with reinforced front frame horns. This is a PERFECT car for a newbie who wants into the sport; if you are good with bodywork, you have found your in.

I am willing to strip down to the bare shell, rolling chassis, or include any number of the following items with the shell:

-9a 2.0L 16V, fresh hannaford Stg IV ported head, TT 276 cams, kent adj cam gear, fresh bottom end, 50 mm intake, lightened flywheel, 6 puck sprung hub clutch, double strapped pressure plate, oil cooler
-VW motorsports 020 16v gearbox with KAAZ clutch diferential and VWM 4.20 16v ring and pinion
-4k 020 8v gearbox 4.25 ring and pinion quaife differential
-megasquirt fuel injection and innovative wideband with dyno-tuned maps
-custom rally tuned long tube 16V ehaust header
-TT 2.25" aluminized exhaust with exhaust protection
-Bilstein Rally struts-Two Rallies
-Biltema Rally Struts NEW
-Bilstein HD's NEW
-Terraphone Pro rally intercom, practice/transit headsets
-Brantz rally computer
-custom aluminum dash and autometer gauges
-Sparco Corsa drivers seat
-Sparco Sprint co-driver's seat
-Halon 5lb fire extinguishers
-MDPE underbody protection
-Afco Steering quickener, removable steering wheel, and power steering setup
-Mid mount yellow top optima battery
-4 Hella 4000's on a light bar (spare included)
-Custom helmet transit bag
-Custom in-car camera setup
-Tube reinforced A-arms
-100mm axles, spare short axle
-25 ronal R8 wheels 23 with rally tires of varying makes/compounds/conditions
-4 steelies with snow tires
-tons more spares, pumps, rack, alternators, starters, bolts, nuts, bits and pieces, gaskets, etc.

more images of the damage here:

and action/build shots here:

All proceeds will go to fund our next car!!!

This is not a PART OUT, anything that does not go with the shell will make its way out for sale at a later date or into the next car, so don't even ask.

Sad to see her in this condition, but glad you're getting back on the horse.

Yeah.

Hey did you go pick up that Celica that Comrade Smith posted the link to?

Celicas are Toyotas and not Datsuns ya know?
You trying to anger the rally gods?

(PS Those damn GpB Celicas certainly looked fantastic didn't they!?)

There will be no volvo....unless someone gives one to us!!!!

I'd like to get this shell to someone with some bodywork talent, it COULD be a great car again with some work.

No Celicas...I agree that the GpB Celicas were fantastic looking.

I want to make sure everyone understands the Demon Rabbit cage is re-usable with a little work.

Tom I have a condidate here at the house for you.

Fifty cents in a bet says that you could find better closer to home for almost free that runs and drives.

As good as you go in the rabbit you will LOVE driving a rear-drive Volvo.

Gene with just a little practice and half descent tires I will show up the 4X4 competition.
Gene why don't YOU build a Volvo (or similar) and show me up?

Tom what did your VW weigh ready to race?

John, my time in the sun is long gone. No killer instinct or burning desire to go fast anymore. A rum & coke in the back of my boat is a good time nowadays. Nobody stays a fast guy forever and I'm fine with that. Old age brings a certain peace to one's existence...

But Gene,
there are other reasons that some of us have raced cars or moto-cross:
the pure joy of it.
It's fun. And it's a trip to be surprised and delighted by what you can do that you didn't know you can do.

We change and the pleasure we take in even the more or less same things we did can also change.
It'd be pretty odd if we didn't change.

(Now if you said its gotten just too expensive for the luaghs we get then i could do anything but agree)

But I have a feeling you'd still have some fun if you had a half decent car that worked OK.

Re: Demon Rally Rabbit For Sale

It is expensive for laughs, no doubt about that. I won't tow to Canada or Pomeroy just to run an event. I'm old, tired and spoiled. The fun factor isn't what it used to be. That's the way it is. I actually have a ball helping maintain a couple of cars and scrutineering.

However...we bought and are rebuilding the 323 FWD that Nate Stowe used to run. May be just RallyX , may be a DooWop participant. Talking about building another spare Talon for Malcolm Davies, maybe I might borrow that. I just don't care enough anymore to go thru a huge effort to rally though.

If no one wants it, put a portapower in there and push the roof into roughly the right spot, get a free 8v engine off vortex, bomb-can paint it yellow.

Up in monroe they have this thing called 'hornet racing' that John Lane can tell you all about (some pics of a nasty volvo running up there too hehe). Been thinking that may be a good death for my squished rally car too... a little red-neck roundy-round 300 lap enduro action in a bent ass rally car. They call it "stagger" I call it "bent frame" but whatever hehehe.
