Just for a little public info here:

There are two volvo axles from the 240; the 1030 and the 1031. The difference is that the 1030 uses standard dana 30 ring and pinion, the 1031 uses a larger special volvo size r&p, NOT AVAILABLE in cool ratios. Both 1030 and 1031 use a dana 30 diff, the difference is in the r&p size and axle housing. The 1030 was on early cars years 1975 through early 80's, the 1031 started showing up on the turbo cars in '82, then became standard equip on 240 by '85 or so.

Take home info, you want the 1030 one so you can use all those cool cheap r&p's, so look for a pre 1980 donor. There are some minor differences to tell them apart, 2 little gussets in the pumpkin casting of 1031. If anyone wants, I'll take some pics.

Btw, John, fine, you win. I'll give ya a call when I get a chance this weekend and get the details on ears, and I should have the details on the shock length, too. Does it need to be measured with the car jacked up, or under normal load? I forgot...

H190 LSD's are now or very very soon to be available from OS Giken.

They're not listed on their website yet
US retail expected to be about $1250

(this is 2nd hand reported by some guy on the bluebirds mailing list, so who knows really, but the guy claims to have held the actual part in his hand)
