Datsun Dogleg 5spd and a longer 5spd too
June 06, 2011 10:13PM
Dogleg 5spd, it came in the trunk of a car I puchased.
Price: ?, I have no idea what it's worth
Random Nissan 5spd that came from the front seat of same car. A bit longer than the dog leg, from a 240Z (?)
Price: probably less

I have no idea what these are worth. I'll get some pictures in the next few days for you Datsun pervs.

The short doglegs usually came from the old 200SX or 510s. The long doglegs (very rare) came from an importer..if I remember correctly. I had the Nismo people tell me the big case DLs could get different gearsets but I never pursued it back then.

Why bother? If everybody does everything for him, he'll never learn himself.
You really think he is incapable of Goggling "dog leg box"?

People retain in proportion to the effort they invest.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Exactly, the same question to google has (would have, in theory, haha) the same answer. It's quicker to ask here, than to load a new page.

The funny part is this Andrew kid trying to make a point over it... *rolls eyes*

You're welcome.

I didn't have a clue what dogleg was until 4-5 years ago. No car I've ever owned or driven had a dog leg first. I remember some VW or something like that that I drove once or twice that had reverse over there but that's it.
So I would say it's more like, anyone that was driving cars in the 70s or 80s when cars had dog legs.
Most 16-25 year olds these days don't know how to even drive a manual transmission.

So a dog leg is a transmission that has first where second is and reverse where first normally would be. The idea is that you have better/faster gear changes for sport/race driving conditions.
Now that we are all edumacated through various means,
back to the point.

They are for sale, I don't want need them anymore. Someone please take them off my hands so I can fund more important/pressing projects.

*Note: This was all said very sarcastically, I really don't care. So please don't take this out of context, I scare easily.

Grants correct for most of that. The amount of kids that can't do this or that or whatever is appalling these days. Even worse is Mom and Pop paying for everything.

That Google link was pretty frickin funny tho, I nearly spat my drink on the keyboard. Some new guys just fit right in!!

I'm glad to be a part of the younger generation that can be self sufficient and get things done (mostly) on their own. I have put myself through college, and just recently got a ME degree. I also decided that graduate school would be more fun, and it pays better than my last job.
My dad showed me the ins and outs of cars and life, and I thank him for that.
I can weld, machine, break things, and come up with excuses to cover it all up faster than most. I think I'll fit right in racing cars.
Now only if school didn't take so much frikkin' time!

*steps off box and goes back out into garage to play on rally golf.

Yeah. In a rally car, ideally you'd spend most of your time bouncing back and forth between second and third gear. With the majority of US rally roads though it's more 3rd and 4th gear or sometimes even 5th and 6th gear.
