SVO....
September 10, 2011 09:14AM
So my neighbor just drug home a 1985 SVO. It doesn't run, he knows nussing...nussing! 5speed car, dizzy missing, intercooler laying in car, all else looks intact, engine physically rolls over. Car is pretty straight, interior is crap. He'd like $800. Apparently lady loaned to nephew running. Kids dad returned car broken saying he was tired of fixing it...family...so there it sat. I have a couple pics if anyone is interested.

Exactly.

And nobody wants a dead one for 800.
Except SVO pervs...

Maybe i'm just too cheap and think everybody else is but $800 for a dead car....

Well scrap value is $250 a ton nowadays, right? So anything is worth THAT much.

SVOs are somewhat rare, and the pervs have a superiority complex about their cars over XR4's. So, you might be able to get that out of it.

Probably an easy fix, 2.3's aren't exactly complicated.

I used to own a Mustang SVO. Most unreliable car I've ever owned. Well, maybe the Vega station wagon was worse in that regard.

Anyway, as these cars are kind of rare, it might be a good candidate to part out. Especially if the SVO-specific bits are still present (e.g., hood, decklid, wheels, etc.). I wouldn't pay $800 for a parts car, though.

I think the headlight surrounds or something go for $200 a piece. There really is lots of valuable stuff there. They were a neat car, slated to get a 16v head for 1990, but rumor has it that being faster than the V8 was a no-no. The 16v 2.3 made an easy 300hp. Imaging what could have happened in the 90's if the HP wars started with turbo 4's.....

THAT is the Ford Dearborn 16v head on a 2300 block, that hain't no Cossie.
And there were no idications in the design there was any influence of Cossie-tude in it (Like the towers are between the cylinders, and the thing is set up for little hydraulic slipper followers for example.)

So where is this head now, and how did it end up in your care? Very interesting.

How did the head look? Did it have potential?
