Man. I need a more sensitive timer. It's somewhere in the 0-2 second range to click the link and open the ad...
It's $1100. There's a 95 M3 part out on 318ti.org forum with engine/trans for $3k. JVAB has already done shocks and struts for these. Dave's learning all the intricacies. |

Bullsh!t. If I wanted to rally something with 130hp and equally unimpressive torques I could've bought a golf. Also, $3k is probably more than you need to spend for an M3 drivetrain. Its what I paid, but I was a BMW newb back then. Do make sure if you get a 1995 that you replace the weak shit in the head and secure the oil pump nut. Dave |

Dave Dave Dave. Bore that little 1,9, get the compression up to about 11.6-11.8:1 and you can haz torques too, Then gear it shorter and it'll pull fine.. ay 180 ft/lbs and a 5. something axle, 1/2 the engine weight... A custom CP piston set is about $700 bucks, cams can be had, and some management. Easy! I've already gone down that road with the Evo. I wanted to stay as close to stock as possible on this one, including ECU stuff, and 91 pump gas. I purposely bought 1995 because it was the last year of OBD-1. Sure, my desire to avoid a built motor may not be "rational" but I know myself, and once I open the engine up, the damn thing will snowball into something way more expensive than the used S50 motor...and if you think building an Evo motor is expensive, these BMW shops see you coming from a mile away! IIRC, the S50 is a 300 lbs motor, and the M44 is 225 lbs. Sure that extra 75 lbs is all out past the front shock towers...but it was a simple swap...and had I known a few extra things about the weak points of the S50, it could've been reliable. Hopefully it will be soon. Dave |
