Want to buy helmet w/ intercom
December 17, 2011 04:12PM
Does anyone have a helmet they do not use any more than might still be legal for use? My peltor is cracked and the cost 100 increase on the new G79 which is still rather expensive is just a tad much at the moment. Special Stage has nothing listed.

this'n http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/helmets/bell-new-for-2012-mag-1-rally-helmet ?

Wonder what the difference between "Peltor compatible" and Peltor is... Otherwise seems a pretty decent deal.

Whats wrong with a normal helmet and an add on inter-com?
Now its not as cool as an all in one unit like the heroes who get them for free use, but they work...

Stylishness?

pyrotect sa2010 open face - $180
peltor intercom kit w/ ear cups - $160 (apdmro.com has peltor stuff for cheap - no idea if they'll actually sell to joe sixpack)
=
$340

spend an extra $25 (plus more shipping, duties I'm sure) to get the bell that grant mentioned? probably worthwhile.
Spend an extra $300 to get an official Peltor helmet? I'd pass.

This is the route I will end up going when my G78 dates-out in 2013. I will harvest the Peltor gear from the helmet and retrofit it to a new Bell open-face.

Grant, that looks promising. I need to see if bell just sells the helmet minus intercom.

I have a peltor g78 right i got from ebay a while back with a crack in it (paid nearly nothing for it) and the electronics are perfect. ill buy this then just transfer my electronics but im not sure how difficult that truely is.

apdmro looks like they'll take CC and paypal on checkout.. Guessing they'll sell to about anyone. Hell even Grainger will now smiling smiley.

Any idea of the part numbers of those cups or where to find them? I'd be tempted to go that route with my current helmet and get the navi (that needs an updated helmet) a G79 or a Stilo DES.

Not sure if you can get the cups themselves, but the whole kit is here:

There are alternatives to Peltor kits with cups, etc... usually they make the actual intercom box cheaper as well winking smiley

I have an OMP Classic set in my car, and the speaker/mic set are like less than 20$ per helmet.

Granted - it takes some fiddeling to fit, etc. - but that's a one time deal, and once done it works fine for us at least, and has for 6-7 years or so.
I even opted for spending aprox 2-3$ to build my own power supply so I wouldn't have to bother with batteries. It's a 2 component deal and a switch - real easy...

Plus Juan.
OMP here as well. Works fine. Greytronics is even better and a fraction of Peltor prices, but then again we don't see photos of Sebastiha Gröniqvistob
or vids with the heroes using Greytronics or OMP...
Think about it, how could you convince your friends youäre a real hero if you didnät have the same helmet_

Din't thinka that, didya?

By going as fast or faster as the posers with the so called right equipment...

The "LB" in LB Rally Team was actually originally short for "Low Budget"... so it has always been an aim for me to do more with less...
