Thats the pic from this morning ride home from work. The shop quotes close to 4K for repairs, so I am looking at other options. Motor runs, car went straight the small bit i drove it (onto flatbed, into shop yard). No damage except what is seen here, Hell its still in its (4th place) Autocross trim from Sunday. Broke stuff- Rad, AC cond, headlights, turn signals, hood, both rad supports bent, bumper cover dented in one place and scratched. Timing belt was ok, but from running post accident was rubbing and should be replaced. Located in Valley Stream, NY. Would need to be towed. Make offers. "Certa Fit" sorta fit and they're as cheap as junkyard parts, and there's a Certafit place just across the river in fawkin Nude Jersey Hood is maybe 35 bucks, lights for $24 core support for a few bucks. $350 in parts and Earl Scheib. About the easiest part on a car to replace is the upper core support. Bolts in on most, easy weld on the rest. Hoods are a no brainer. Bumper cover looks ok for an old Focus. Bumper beam is likely ok, but an easy bolt on if not. Radiators are cheap, the AC stuff is probably the most costly. Fix eet !!

Gene the bumper beam is a weld on part on the focus but I agree that it looks like it is likely undamaged in the crash.
Likely the most expensive replacement parts will be the head lights since they are the rare HID lights. Might want to consider down grading to the stock focus lights. Same goes for the grill. Radiator and AC condenser should be the same as any 00-04 focus. You will likely need to tweak the front fenders as well since they bolt to the headlights and will likely got twisted in the crash. Also check the motor mounts to make sure they did not get messed up in the crash. Passeger side is a hydro / rubber mount that likes to tear away on the bottom side of the mount. Will be easy to check when replacing the Timing belt. Drivers mount likes to fail but twisting the ears that come off the chassis rail. Will have to dig under the battery to get a good look. Is this mount gets out of sorts it will start eating lower trans mounts. Looks like a perfect rally car candidate!! Good luck with the repair. |

Unfortunately I am now driving what I was trying to shape into a rally candidate to work every day, But that is what it is.
I took a good look at it... and it is not nearly as bad as I had assumed, or at least as the shop that it got towed to suggested. I was in a pretty sour mood that day, And I appreciate your suggestions and encouragements, it looks like it will save me some trouble. Only the upper rad mount and headlight facia panel are damaged, along with the radiator and condenser. It looks like the motor mounts are ok, but i will know for sure when I remove the pass side. A couple of the cross over lines for the power steering and coolant got damaged as well, Im sure ill find these no problem. Luckly, I have some of the halogen lights already for the car, this will save me a few bucks. Again, Thanks for helping me keep on the right path here. Enablers, All of you. |

Good you stuck wif it. Hey I was doing some inventory---making space on some shelves.. You never got round to sending me those bottom tubes for those inserts i mistakenly got from you (mistakenly thunk they were bilsteins). Can you send them---in some sort of small box so I don't pay more for the UPS than the stuff inside?) Uh, can't imagine why I would suggest you send them to somebody when these inserts are useless without the tubes...can you search and see who it was? And explain there was a big misunderstanding?
