Looks like the brantz is pretty cheap too compared to terratrip 303+ .. Just have to order it from canada or uk... Unless somebody has one just layin around they want to sale asap?????????? John , got anything?

I was for 25 years an "Arthur-ized" Brantz dealer, but Geoff retired and i don't know if I am any longer...

I hear a lot of people say this but I bought a TerraTrip 303 25 years ago and it never gave me a lick of trouble. Always worked perfectly. Maybe I got lucky and bought the only good one, I dunno.

I had a Brantz that came with the Opel. Loaned it to JVL and his codriver crossed a couple of wires or something and let all the smoke out of it. Sounds pretty fragile. John sent it back to Brantz but apparently it couldn't be fixed. I never saw it again.

My knowledge of Terratrip wiring got us through tech one time. No reverse lights so I quickly tossed a piece of wire into the plug, ran it up to the p/s of the car where I had the plug sitting. Stood there non-chalantly and said, okay, that should get it, Mark, put it in reverse, as he shifted it into R, I stuck the wire into the power hole. One reverse light came on, scrutineer said, one is all that is required, okay you guys are good to go. That car still doesn't have reverse lights...
I do not condone such behaviour though.

Quick question that's mostly on topic. I have a Brantz Laser 3, and a vw golf. Is there a limit on how many trigger points the odo can handle? I'm using the stock vw abs ring/sensor on the hub, and it just occured to me that counting 30+ times/rev might over do the little guys electronic brain.
And yes, I read the manual... it recommended more than 4 trigger pulses/rev. Nothing about maximum though....

What's wrong with the heads of the studs in the rear?
Tell me you've ditched those miserable VW rear discs, and gone to something you'll only have to mod once to use studs in.

Haha, no. I'm still using the stock disk, just modified for studs. I would have liked to use the studs, but they are too far away from the sensor. I can just weld four nuts to where the abs ring sits.

I have removed some of the "teeth" on the VW tone rings and it works.

Have you seen me getting all Grrrrr grrrr everytime I've had to do another stinkin rear disc modded for studs for Tom Buress?

The gap betwen the middle and the disc "hat" ID is a bitch and i have to counterbore down to have a spot for the hat for the stud.. every time a disc dies cause the filthy Kraut bastids incorporated the hub into the disc..

You can do it once and be done with it with just a little fabby-time..
Have you seen what I was told by this nice guy Jon Nichols?

ok. John.. my talon is a fwd . the e-brake assembly is set-up inside the rear disc... where in the hell should I mount this probe... Ive been laying under the car for a hour... staring . confused and completely retarded feeling..lol

The normal proximity sensor will sense either a ferrous lump, like a stud head/bolt head OR a the absence of ferrous material like....................................................................................



a hole. I've made simple thick nylon "tab" mounts and aimed it at the edge of drums where I'd taken a die grinder and made 5 (minimum 1/4" wide and 1/4" deep) notches.. Worked fine. Holes work too. 5 holes just inboard of where the pads rub out to be doable..
