I just bought one of these. Fun enough little car. 2 tanks down avg of 28 mpg.

Our E30 Vert had a similar combination of issues.

Once I removed the 1/2 assed stereo job it went away. Car at the 'premium audio' which makes the radio wiring stupid and puts and amp in the trunk behind some carpet that I think eats the power when not quite hooked up right.
