That diff is likely from some M52 supercharged E30 swap that thought he'd be fine with the stock diff...
Jari's car had and still has a 4.44 small case diff. Paired to a 2.8L with M3 cams. Jari did plenty of events with it, Dave's done Ojibwe and 100AW with it. No problems.
Though upgrading to a medium case is easy enough.
Dave did a Supra diff in his Compact, something we will never do again.

Medium case you get a 4.10 final drive, which came in early 90s E34 5 series cars. Then get a stock clutch type LSD. Go rally.
When you feel like lock is disappearing you can do stuff like remove spacer and machine a cover to double the amount of plates. 1.9, 2.0, and 2.1 mm plates available.
